A black cat
My eldest son, called Abang, is 6 years old. One day, he asked me to help him with his Jawi homework. I saw that he coloured his cat black, I can't even see the face of the cat. So, I asked him, "Why did you colour your cat black?". He goes like this "What is this? This is a cat. This is a big cat. This is a black cat." "Ha.." he said. It's from his english book that he memorised. Once, when he brought back his english book, I did glance through, all started with "What is this? This is a ..." . "Oh...ok", I said, respecting his choice of colour.
I'm not much of a cook
Just after confinement, I had a very busy schedule(my little baby cries a lot at that time), I only manage to fry chicken or fish to my children everyday for their lunch. After some time, I noticed that they didn't touch their rice anymore. Well, I thought, maybe I should change the menu. With all difficulties, I did manage to cook ayam masak tomato. Jat, my second son, came back from his kindergarden and asked "What's for lunch, mama?". I proudly show him the dish that I cooked and cheerfully said, "Ayam masak tomato". Excitedly he said, "Nenek cook for us, mama. When did nenek send us the food?". I was stunned and speechless. Nenek is my mother-in-law, she's an iron chef!
On other occasion, Umi, my mother, called Nek Mi by her grandsons, never miss making teh susu every morning. Back in KL, Abang and Jat insisted me to make teh susu. When they tasted my 'teh susu', Jat said, "Nek mi pandai buat teh susu".
We use to say that "Mom is the best cook". I'm in doubt now with my kids ...
